2019 LA Auto Show - Prepping for Japan

Updated: Nov 28, 2019

The 2019 LA Auto Show was perfect timing to test some new equipment before my trip to Japan in January for the Tokyo Auto Salon along with a ton of other car related activities.

So the LA Auto Show was used a baseline to determine my new camera's capabilities and the limitations of the lenses.

I'm hoping my new Canon will turn into my travel and everyday carry camera, the mirrorless body has an extremely tiny frame and its ability to use any of Canon's numerous lens (with adapter) it should be a perfect run and gun camera.

I approached the LA Auto Show with a different mindset, attempting to recreate challenges I've encountered previously at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

The details. It's easy to walk through a show and to just shoot each car but a lot is missed in the story of the build if you don't show the details of the car.

I found early on that I'll need a wider angle lens, do to how close I'll need to get to the cars with the crowds I'll have to battle with in Japan. Its funny that the entire time I walked around the LA Auto Show I was thinking about Japan.

With the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon only a month and a half away, I'll need a few more items to bring you the best coverage I can of the show and much more.

Oh, did I mention I also bought a drone for Japan, lol. I'll be attempting to get some aerial shots while driving around outside of Tokyo. I've been learning to fly the new DJI Mavic Mini and so far I'm impressed with how easy it is to fly and the video quality.

Time to make the final preparations, cross my fingers and hope I have everything I need for Japan. Stay tuned in January for some awesome coverage of Japan and its many wonderful car culture locations.

I've included some of the more interesting cars at this years LA Auto Show for your viewing pleasure in the slideshow below.

Everything Else. Enjoy!!
